The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin
THERE'S A PLACE FOR YOU HERE!
WE WELCOME YOU!
The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin
· Jesus Christ is both Lord and Savior
· God’s grace leads us to growth and renewal.
· All are welcome at God’s table
As Anglican Christians we are, through God's grace, called to act as agents of reconciliation and as evangelists to proclaim The Good News of God in Christ. We draw strength from our faith and liturgy, and we serve those in our Parish and in our community at large. Ever mindful of the gifts of the past, we seek to protect and enhance our resources for future generations.
WE WORSHIP TOGETHER
Services are Sunday morning at 8:00 with a reflective, traditional Rite I liturgy; at 10:00, with a glorious Rite II Choral Eucharist; and on Thursday morning, a Eucharist at 10:30 in the Guild Room of the Parish House. From mid-June until Labor Day, the second Sunday morning service is at 9:30, and Thursday evening outdoor "Mass on the Grass".
WE LEARN TOGETHER!
We have a number of weekday and Sunday programs during the course of the year that provide Christian Formation opportunities for adults. Each Thursday at 11:00 am a study group gathers following the Eucharist in the Guild Room of the Parish House. A special Lenten series, a Speakers Forum, an "End-of-Life Fair", and an "Introduction to The Episcopal Church" are just some of our offerings.
WE LOVE OUR CHILDREN
The Children's Guiding RAY Program is simply wonderful. With the guidance of committed leaders, our children and their parents gather for Family Chapel with Father James each Sunday morning at 9:30. Exciting classes, marvelous art and drama projects, special children's liturgies (such as Ash Wednesday and Good Friday), and intergenerational projects (our Advent Wreath making ) with other parishioners ensure that our children will feel both stimulated to explore their faith and know that they are cherished as part of the Church of today AND tomorrow.
Adolescents and young adults participate in study and service projects that give them exposure to the Church's traditions and the opportunity to be active members of the larger community. Our goal is to reassure that our youth feel affirmed and embraced by their church family.
WE SOCIALIZE TOGETHER
There is always something to do at Saint Mary's! We are equally adept at praying and playing. Our Advent Memorial Tree lighting ushers in the annual "Christmas Sparkles" cookie walk, bake sale, book sale and organ concert. Summertime brings the annual lobster bake and Experiential Auction. In the fall, the community gathers for the Children's Carnival to begin our program year. Each month the parish invites the community for Classic Film Night. The Spring Bridge-a-Thon is a perennial favorite.
WE REACH "OUT BEYOND THE LYCHGATE"
