HOW WE WORSHIP
To understand what Anglicans believe, you must see
how we worship. The church’s liturgy unites us, cutting across different opinions to bring us side by side at the Lord’s TableCentral to Episcopal worship is The Holy Eucharist. Also called The Mass, Holy Communion, or The Divine Liturgy, it is the act of worship whereby believers are united with Jesus Christ in His actions at the Last Supper. Our Church teaches that in The Holy Eucharist, Jesus Christ becomes truly present through the offerings of Bread and Wine. We do not attach words or explanations as to exactly how this happens. What is important is that Christ comes among His people to feed them with His very essence. The Holy Eucharist is one of the two Sacraments – means of grace – instituted by Christ himself. The other major Sacrament is Holy Baptism. By being baptized with water in the name of the Trinity a person is cleansed from sin and raised to new life by becoming part of the Body of Christ on earth. Holy Baptism is administered during the Sunday Eucharist at various times during the year. Come Worship With Us At Saint Mary the Virgin
